Fading in a hazy, dreamy
recollection of the past.
From my eyes, but not seen clearly,
Taking place we left off last.
Faceless figures take position,
Embossed into my fragile mind.
Words were spoken, cannot hear them,
Only fragments left behind.
Defy dear death and spoken truths.
Speak, lost love, through pantomime.
Is the reason memory lacks perfection
So present, more easily, we can find?
Not roaming endless in a maze,
Lost from present, trapped in time?
And why the comforts long forgotten
not vivid as putrid pasts we’ve lived in?
Outside the realm of human shell,
Inside of self, are we a prison?
